The Ixia Yellow Emperor is a cheerful yellow flower that colours your garden sunny. They are also called African lilies. Ixias have several flowers per stem and grow about 40 to 60 cm tall. It is best to plant the bulbs in the ground from mid-May onwards. Ixias flower from June to August. They are not completely winter-hardy. It is best to cover them well with straw or mulch in case of frost. In a mild winter, a straw cover is also sufficient. Ixias like well-drained soil, which means that water drains well and that the bulbs are not too wet. They do well in sun and semi-shade. These beautiful little flowers are also very nice as cut flowers.
