We are regularly asked People regulary asks us "when is Keukenhof at its best?" or "when is it the best time to go to Keukenhof?".
Answering these questions is not that easy because it also depends on what you want to see.
Do you want to enjoy a beautiful park without a lot of people walking around? Then the best moment to come is the first 2 weeks after the opening of the park; however the disadvantage is that not many Tulips bloom yet. If it has been nice weather for a few days, the Crocuses are already in full bloom and the Daffodils are also getting some colour.
If you are fond of Daffodils and Tulips, it is best to wait a little longer and to come to the park from about 8 April. Then the Daffodils bloom in full alternating with the early flowering Tulips and here and there an early Hyacinth.
All flowers at Keukenhof are blooming beautifully from mid-April until at least the first week of May. During these weeks it is a true explosion of colour and fragrance. Other varieties bloom almost daily and the park no longer resembles that of the day before. You can now also combine your visit with a bicycle tour through the Bollenstreek (there is a possibility to rent bicycles at the park). Or you can come and watch the Flower Parade of the Bulb Region in April. The parade runs along the park, so you only have to walk out of the park to go and have a look. You can of course return to the park when the parade is over. In these weeks, the park is at its busiest, but you will not be bothered due to the many hiking trails.
After the first week of May, many of the flower bulbs have already finished flowering, but there is still plenty to see. For example, the last Tulips bloom outside and there are many types of special bulbous plants at their best. There are also several shows to admire in the greenhouses, so you still get value for money.
The weather does of course play a major role in the different moments of flowering. If the weather is warm early in the spring, the flower bulbs will also bloom earlier.
Due to the many different plantings in the park, it is also recommended to visit it in each period and experience all the different stages.
