What an extraordinary bulbous plant! The autumn pineapple lily (Eucomis autumnalis) is an exotic member of the hyacinth family. When you look at the shape and colour of the flower you might see why it got the name pineapple flower! It is a real eye-catcher in your garden or in a pot on your terrace or balcony. The raceme is covered with little star-shaped cream coloured flowers and on the top sits a crown of green foliage, which completes the pineapple-look. When in bloom the eucomis spreads a lovely scent. Eucomis is easy to care for, which makes them ideal pot plants. This autumn pineapple lily flowers from June to September.
